Castor Oil Packs
Castor Oil Packs
Have you tried castor oil packs as a part of your ritual? Have a read through this post and see if Castor Oil Packs are something you want to incorporate into your self care and body love routine. I really enjoyed my regular routine of castor oil packs and I incorporated it as my self care time too! Two birds one stone!
This blog post is just for educational purposed and not intended to replace a consult with a medical professional or other health care provider*
Castor Oil or the proper name is Ricinus Communis… now say that 5 times quickly! Castor Oil is made from the castor seed with is found in India. Castor Oil is a thick carrier oil. ( a carrier oil is an oil which can come from many different natural sources, and acts as a vehicle to carry your 100% pure essential oil to the skin. It serves as a dilatation for essential oils that can make it safe to use for different age ranges.) The beauty of this oil is that is has a high potency of ricinoleic acid and is said to have a wide range of health- supporting properties. Whoot whoot and lucky for us fertility sisters some of these can support us on our preparation for our baby.
On a total side note castor oil is AMAZING for hair, so I make a fun castor oil lash serum so I don’t have to wear falsies.
Again, let me say how much I love my carrier oils and all my oily collection! Castor Oil packs have been used for a wide range of physical supports and emotional support.
These relaxing packs are amazing! To be done prior to your cycle (skipping ovulation)

SUPPLIES:
Castor Oil
Sheet of soft Flannel Fabric large enough to cover your lower abdominal area
Suran wrap
Hot water Bottle or electric heating pad or warm buddy bean bag
Self Care Tools that nurture your spirit - journal, colouring book, tea, book, etc.
Container to store the flannel after use. You can reuse this castor oil and flannel sheet up to 30 times in the fridge.
Old clothing since the castor oil might stain
Caution: Do not use during pregnancy breastfeeding and menstruation and discontinue use after ovulation!
HOW TO:
STEP ONE: Soak a piece of flannel in the oil and then squeeze some of the excess oil out, you don’t want it too saturated ( You can find this oil at Ave Maria Downtown or other health food shops, I do susggest buying castor oil that is stored in a glass bottle not plastic)
STEP TWO: Take the flannel and apply it over your tummy, you can cover your liver and abdominal area or just the lower abdominal area.
STEP THREE: Cover your lower tummy with plastic wrap. So the flannel and oil doesn’t leak onto your clothing as it will stain.
STEP FOUR: Apply a hot water bottle and sit and relax for 45 minutes to an hour! Cuddle up with a night tea and a good book, sit and breathe and practice that guided mediation. Like my LOTUS MEDITATION ;)
STEP FIVE: Remove hot water bottle, suran wrap, flannel and gently wash off excess castor oil or pat dry
STEP SIX: Drink lots of water and continue to hydrate as your body moves toxins out of the body
Castor Oil Packs can be done 2-3 times a week. Some suggest to complete two cycles of the castor oil packs and then take a rest period.
